A team of 3 Academicians of the Faculty of Engineering of Kocaeli University went to the earthquake-hit area and prepared "Reconnaissance Report of Van Earthquake". The team, which focused on three types of building structures, prepared the report in Turkish and English.
Academicians of the Faculty of Engineering of Kocaeli University, Associate Professor Şevket Özden, Assistant Professor Erkan Akpınar and Research Assistant Hilal Meydanlı Atalay, went to Van and Erciş to investigate the damage caused by the earthquake after the Van Earthquake. The team investigating the earthquake performance of the structures in the region for three group of buildings, namely "Cultural Heritage Buildings", "Cast in Place Reinforced Concrete Buildings", and the "Pre-Cast Reinforced Concrete Buildings" prepared "Reconnaissance Report of Van Earthquake." Saying they aim to address to the international academic society as well as the national one, Associate Prof. Özden stated that they, for this reason, prepared the report in Turkish and English.
